frequently asked questions

What’s your shooting style? Are you more posed, candid, or a mix?

I’m definitely a mix of both. I’m constantly scanning for those quiet, genuine moments—using my 85mm or 135mm to capture them from afar so I don’t disrupt anything.
When it comes to posing, I’ll show you a starting point, then use natural prompts and movement so everything feels relaxed and real. My goal is for you to forget the camera is even there.

How far in advance should we book you?

As early as you can. Most couples reserve their date 8–12 months ahead, while portrait sessions usually book 1–2 months in advance. I keep plenty of weekday openings for sessions too.

Do you travel? What are the travel fees?

Yes—travel is one of my favorite parts of this work.
I travel free within 45 miles of Stockton, and beyond that it’s simply $0.75 per mile round-trip.
For destination weddings, you just cover flights and accommodations, and I’ll handle the rest.

How many images do we receive?

You can expect 80–100 fully edited images per hour, thoughtfully curated to tell your story with depth and intention.

What’s the turnaround time for our gallery?

4–6 hours of coverage: around 4 weeks
8–10 hours of coverage: around 6 weeks

Do you offer sneak peeks?

Yes! I send 25 sneak peeks within 24 hours so you can relive the magic while everything is still fresh and emotional.

Do you retouch skin?

Absolutely. I’m trained as a professional photo retoucher, which means your images will look polished but never artificial.
I remove obvious blemishes, even out skin tone, and gently soften where needed—always keeping your natural texture and beauty intact. If you ever want more detailed retouching, we can chat through options.

Do you offer print products?

Yes! Your gallery connects directly to Pixieset’s luxury print labs, so you can order heirloom-quality prints, albums, and wall art with just a few clicks.

Can we customize a package if we don’t see exactly what we need?

Of course. After our consultation call, you’ll receive a detailed pricing guide with options to tailor everything—extra hours, rehearsal dinner coverage, additional sessions, and more. The goal is for your package to fit your day perfectly.

Do you help with posing? What if we’re awkward in front of the camera?

Absolutely. Most people feel awkward at first, but you won’t stay that way.
I guide you gently, mix in natural prompts, and keep you moving so you never feel stiff or overly staged. You just get to be yourselves—and I’ll take care of the rest. We also have the chance to practice during the engagement session, if included with your collection.

How do payments work? Do you offer payment plans?

To reserve your date, a 50% non-refundable retainer is required. Most couples choose the standard option: 50% down and the remaining 50% due by the wedding day.
If you prefer smaller payments, I offer interest-free monthly plans with up to nine installments.
For cancellations, 50% of all payments made is considered the non-refundable retainer.

Cinematography

How would you describe your filming and editing style?

Cinematography

Cinematic, timeless, and documentary-driven. We focus on storytelling that feels true to you—emotion-forward, beautifully paced, and crafted to stand the test of time.

Do we get to pick the music, or do you handle that part?

We love getting your input. You’ll share the style of music you love and a few example songs so we can understand your vibe. From there, we take care of licensing and selecting the perfect track to fit the emotion of your film.

How long are the final films, and what edits are included?

Most highlight films land around 10–12 minutes, depending on how much ceremony content is woven into the story.
Every wedding film collection includes a 30-second teaser, a 10–12 minute highlight film, and the full uncut ceremony.
Speeches can be added as their own edited film for an additional cost.

Do you record audio (vows, speeches, letters)?

Absolutely. We use lav mics to capture vows, letters, and key moments with clear, clean audio. We even have a white lav mic designed to run discreetly inside the dress. If that’s not ideal, we have several other audio options—we always come prepared.

Do you offer drone footage?

Yes! Drone coverage is available as an add-on, and it’s absolutely worth it. We rent professional drones for wedding days when requested, giving us the ability to capture stunning aerial moments in both photo and video.

What happens if something goes wrong with equipment or audio?

We come prepared with layers of backup. Ceremony audio is captured in multiple ways: a lav mic, an on-camera mic, and—when allowed—a direct feed from the DJ’s soundboard. We also bring backup cameras and extra audio sources. If something unexpected happens, we adapt quickly.

How involved can we be in the creative direction?

We welcome your inspiration. Feel free to send video examples or ideas you love ahead of time, and we’ll talk through how to weave those elements into your film. Once the day begins, you can relax—we handle the creative direction from there.

Do you offer raw footage? How is it delivered?

Yes, we’re happy to provide raw footage as long as you supply the SSD (they can be pricey). Just keep in mind that raw footage appears very flat and gray before color grading—it’s meant to be edited using LUTs.
